Tips For Awesome Indoor Plant Decor

Tips For Awesome Indoor Plant Decor

Indoor decor can be fun, but it can also be frustrating if you’re not achieving the aesthetic you’re looking for. One great way to enhance your indoor decor is to add plants to the mix.

Plants of any kind will add life and style to any indoor space, whether we’re talking about bedrooms, family rooms, kitchens, or even bathrooms.

Below, The Green Goddess goes over a few ways to enhance your indoor decor without breaking the bank.

Hanging Plants

Even though installation is often more challenging compared to normal ground-sitting potted plants, the reward is often two-fold.

If you have exposed beams, installation of hanging plants will be far simpler. At any rate, all you really have to do is install a hook screw into a joist. You will want to make sure to select a hook screw that has the structural integrity to support the weight of the plant you wish to hang.

If you upgrade to hanging plants this will add some much-needed greenery to your indoor space without compromising your floor plan in any way. Popular plants to hang indoors include:

  • Ferns
  • Ivy
  • Philodendrons

Make sure to hang your plants where they are getting indirect sunlight. Fertilize, dust, and water these hanging plants regularly.

Put Plants on Your Shelves

If you’re lacking space on floors and countertops, your shelves will often make suitable homes for your plants. You can install shelving specifically for your plants, or you can utilize existing shelves. A nice plant will also look great on your bookshelf.

Pro tip: make sure to line your shelves with either coasters or trays – this way you can capture any drippage.

Plants to place on your shelves include:

  • Ferns
  • Succulents
  • Air plants

Adorn your shelves with cool vases, planters, and even figurines to make your shelves come to life in a new way.

Mix and Match Your Plants and Plant Containers

Plants can come in all shapes, sizes, and colors – and the same goes true to plant containers.

Select a theme for your indoor space – examples include all white and all blue, or you can opt for a more eclectic aesthetic. Find a way to express yourself when choosing plants and containers. Have all your selections play into an overall theme/aesthetic.
